5th September is celebrated as Teacher's day. We celebrate this day to pay tribute to the contribution made by teachers to the development of society. When Dr. Radhakrishnan became the President of India, some of his friends requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday. Dr.Radhakrishnan said, "Instead of celebrating my birthday, I would feel very privileged if September 5 is observed as Teachers' day from henceforth".This request showed Dr.Radhakrishnan's love for the teaching profession. Since then, the day has been observed as Teachers' Day. And we honor and show our gratitude to teachers from various walks of life on this day.
